Dutch Senate supports ratification of Ukraine-EU deal
The Senate of the Netherlands has supported the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, according to UNIAN.
The voting for the relevant legislative act took place in The Hague in the framework of the plenary session of the Senate on Tuesday, May 30. The Senate consists of 75 members. The legislative act must be signed by the King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander and shall enter into force after publication in the State Journal.
It should be recalled that the lower chamber of the Dutch Parliament on February 23 upheld a government-proposed bill providing for the ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. Ratification by the Dutch Senate was obligatory. The Netherlands was the last EU member state that ratified the agreement.
Normandy Four working meeting starts in Berlin
A meeting of the “Normandy Four” at the level of deputy foreign ministers has begun at Villa Borsig, the guesthouse of the German Foreign Ministry, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Ukrinform.
The meeting was preceded by a conversation in a trilateral format by representatives of the Ukrainian, German and French sides.
The Ukrainian delegation is headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko.
The main issue on the agenda is “an analysis of the current situation in terms of compliance with the ceasefire, as well as the fulfillment of other commitments in the framework of the Minsk agreements.”
Three Ukrainian soldiers wounded amid 50 attacks in last day, Luhansk sector sees escalation
Russia’s hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 50 times in the past 24 hours with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
The Russian occupation forces opened fire on Ukrainian positions in the Mariupol sector 18 times. Having engaged heavy artillery systems against Ukrainian troops stationed near the town of Krasnohorivka the night before, the Russian proxies used lighter weapons for the rest of the day. In the evening, the enemy repeatedly fired grenade launchers and small arms at the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Pavlopil, Hnutove, Chermalyk, Novotroyitske, Taramchuk, Berezove, and Talakivka. What is more, Ukrainian troops near Pavlopil came under 82mm mortar fire, while Talakivka was attacked by infantry fighting vehicles.
Illegal armed groups mounted 15 attacks in the Donetsk sector in the past day. Most often, they fired at Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of the town of Avdiyivka, using 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various modifications, heavy machine guns and small arms several times. In addition, the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Luhanske repeatedly came under enemy fire from 82mm mortars, guns of infantry fighting vehicles and light infantry weapons. In the evening, the enemy started firing mortars near the villages of Zaitseve, Verkhniotoretske, and Pisky.
There were 17 instances of shelling by Russian-terrorist groups in the Luhansk sector in the past day, which indicates an increase in the enemy’s firing activity in this direction. In particular, from 18:00 and until midnight, the terrorists were firing at Ukrainian defenders near the villages of Krymske, Novozvanivka, Novo-Oleksandrivka, Katerynivka, and Donetskiy, using mainly grenade launchers and small arms of various calibers.
