The Donetsk sector: 24 enemy attacks were recorded. Most often, the occupiers attacked ATO forces in the vicinity of the town of Avdiyivka. In the evening, they repeatedly opened fire on the Ukrainian fortified positions to the south of Avdiyivka, using 82mm and 120mm mortars, as well as weapons of smaller caliber. To the east, near the village of Kam’ianka, the enemy also used 82mm mortars and an anti-aircraft gun. Moreover, the militants used the same types of mortars, small arms and grenade launchers near the villages of Verkhniotoretske, Opytne and Pisky. From the outskirts of the temporarily occupied town of Horlivka, the Russian-backed mercenaries fired at the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Zaitseve and Maiorsk.

“At about 19:00 on Sunday, the militants fired at the Donetska water filtration station. Thus, the occupiers once again placed the environmental security of the whole region and the welfare of civilians on the map of their criminal plans,” the press service said.

The Luhansk sector: seven episodes of militant shelling were recorded there in the past day. In the evening, the invaders used 120mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms against the Ukrainian defenders near the village of Troyitske. The enemy also opened fire from 82mm mortars near the village of Krymske and the town of Zolote. Furthermore, automatic grenade launchers were used near the village of Malynove.

International kite festival held in Ukraine

The international kite festival “One Sky – One World!” was held in the village of Tryhutty in Mykolayiv region on the bank of the Southern Bug River. A few thousand spectators attended the event, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Today, we are hosting the International Kite Festival 2017 for the first time in Ukraine. Whereas such festivals are held abroad permanently, this movement is still in its infancy in Ukraine. Why can’t we be as good as them? Therefore, we decided to organize such a festival here, in Mykolayiv region. After all, there are beautiful steppes, landscapes, much wind,” said one of the festival’s organizers, activist Tetiana Bezmoshchu.

The festival was attended by participants from eight world countries: France, Vietnam, Italy, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Poland, as well as Ukrainians from Kherson, Skadovsk, Nikopol and, of course, Mykolayiv.

The hundreds of flying animals – fish, birds, insects, other characters and huge figures in 3D format – could be seen in the sky above Tryhutty village.

Czechs to provide CZK 35 mln for Ukraine’s reconstruction

The Czech Republic could contribute 35 million crowns (almost $1.5 million) to the reconstruction of Ukraine and support for its democratic transformation in 2017-18, according to a proposal by the Foreign Ministry that the government will discuss on Monday, according to UNIAN.

The government already made a decision on support for Ukraine in 2014 and it released 50 million crowns in the past years. Further money went to the country from other sources of the Foreign Ministry, PragueMonitor reports.

The 2014-16 projects cost a total of 171 million crowns and focused on the building of support for independent media, a reform of the Ukrainian media environment and the struggle against corruption, the ministry said in its material that CTK has at its disposal.

The projects also focused on tertiary education, support for the UN Development Programme and extraordinary scholarships for Ukrainians studying at Czech public schools. In 2014-15, the Czech Republic also supported Ukrainians hit by armed conflicts and internally displaced persons. It sent them medical material among others.

The Czech Republic also organized humanitarian transports of Ukrainians for treatment in the Czech Republic within the MEDEVAC program, the Foreign Ministry said.
