Donbas militants attack Ukrainian, Russian watchdog officers

Representatives of the Ukrainian and Russian sides of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) came under militant fire near the village of Bezimenne in Donbas, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.

The shelling was carried out to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the headquarters said. In addition, it is noted that the militants accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine of using tanks, without having any photo and video evidence.

Putting on fake charges against the Ukrainian army, the terrorists do not take into account the distances between settlements, neglect the nature of the terrain, the tactical and technical characteristics of weapons, and especially the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely withdrew heavy weapons, including tanks, from the demarcation line in accordance with the Minsk agreements. “By such information actions, unreasoned and unsubstantiated accusations, the illegal formations of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are driving themselves into a dead end, confirming the fact that they are the ones who violate all the Minsk commitments regarding the use and withdrawal of banned weapons,” the headquarters said.

The ATO HQ also reported on 10 wounded soldiers amid 58 militant attacks on Thursday.

The Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Valeria Gontareva, who submitted a letter of resignation from May 10 to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, is going on a long-term vacation, according to an UNIAN source in the NBU.
The appointment of Gontareva’s successor is postponed to autumn. First Deputy Governor Yakiv Smolii will run the NBU for the time of Gontareva’s absence, the source said. However, the National Bank has not yet officially confirmed the information.
