Militants launched 22 attacks on Ukrainian troops on Easter Sunday, two soldiers wounded in action

Russia’s hybrid military forces shelled Ukrainian positions 22 times on Easter Sunday, April 16, two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in action on that day, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation headquarters, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.

“In the past day, the Russian occupation forces shelled the Ukrainian army’s positions 22 times. They used 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems and large-caliber machine guns to shell the Marines near the village of Pavlopil in the Mariupol sector. Positions near the village of Hnutove were under 120mm mortar fire, automatic grenade launchers were used simultaneously. The enemy used 82mm mortars and anti-tank grenade launchers to shell positions near the village of Vodiane. Small arms were used to fire on the defenders of the villages of Shyrokyne and Lebedynske,” the ATO HQ said in an update on Facebook on Monday, April 17.

The enemy fired on ATO positions near the town of Advdiyivka in the Donetsk sector, using grenade launchers of various systems and large-caliber machine guns. Ukrainian troops stationed near the village of Zaitseve were attacked by an infantry fighting vehicle. Grenade launchers were also engaged. The defenders of Butivka coal mine came under fire from large-caliber machine guns, while automatic grenade launchers were used to attack the defenders of the village of Myronivske. “The enemy used 120mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers to fire on positions near the village of Katerynivka in the Luhansk sector. Small arms were used to fire on strongholds near the village of Novo-Oleksandrivka,” the update said.

It should be recalled that the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the Donbas crisis agreed in Minsk on March 29 on a full ceasefire in the ATO zone amid the Easter holidays as of April 1. However, there has not been a single day when the occupiers observed the ceasefire.
