Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office in the Donetsk region defined the shelling on the residential areas in Avdiyivka town, conducted by militants in the morning of January 29 as a terrorist act, Joinfo.com reports with reference to 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

The militants, who are aware that there are civilians in the town, launched a targeted attack on residential areas of Avdiyivka, Prosecutor’s office of the Donetsk region of Ukraine said.

“As a result of shelling three civilians received mine-explosive injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds to various parts of the body,” noted in the press-service.

A 41-year-old man, a 58-year-old woman and a 26-year-old young man have been wounded, the report said.

“All citizens receive medical assistance”, reported in the prosecutor’s office in Donetsk region.

“The Prosecutor’s office pre-classified these actions on the basis of Paragraph 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a “terrorist act”, noted in the department.

Militants use banned heavy weapons, including those of 120mm caliber, shelling the Ukrainian troops along the frontline from Donetsk airport to Yasinuvata railway station, press officer Olena Mokrinchuk reported, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

According to Unian agency, on Monday morning, Ukrainian army positions came under heavy artillery fire. The intensity of fighting slightly decreased overnight, but it went back up again in the morning.

Avdiyivka remains cut from the power supply from Sunday, as a local administration reports.

Militants launch 56 attacks, use Grad MRLS on Ukrainian troops in Donbas.

In total, five Ukrainian soldiers were killed, 13 were injured in the Anti-Terrorist Operation area after militants shelled 56 times over the past 24 hours.

Militants continued the assault on the government positions near Avdiyivka town twice on Monday. They were forced to retreat with losses.

Also in the Donetsk sector, militants continued to shell Avdiyivka, Verhnyotoretske, Opytne, Luhanske, Zaitseve and Kamianka during the day. They used tanks to fire in Novhorodske and Pisky.

In the Mariupol sector, militants fired 20 times from multiple rocket launchers of BM-21 Grad on government’s positions in Talakivka. They also shelled Vodiane from Grad P, 122 mm artillery of different calibers. They hit Lebedynske from122 mm artillery and Krasnohorivka – from mortars of different calibers. Occupants shelled Hnutove, Pavlopil, Shyrokyne, Krasnohorivka and Talakivka from grenade launchers and small arms. The enemy hit Shyrokyne from APCs and IFVs.

In the Luhansk sector, militants shelled Novooleksandrivka, Troitske, Popasna and Novozvanivka from mortars of various calibers and grenade launchers.
