Russia deploys S-400 missile systems in annexed Crimea

An anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Russian army in the annexed Crimea was reinforced with advanced S-400 air defense systems in 2016, Joinfo.com reports.

This was reported by the Russian RIA Novosti news agency with reference to the press service of the Southern Military District Staff of the Russian army.

According to the Russian TASS agency, the S-400 complex is designated to destroy all types of modern and perspective aerospace attack means. The S-400 missiles are capable of hitting aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) and tactical ballistic targets flying at a speed of 4.8 km/s (3 mi/s) at a distance of up to 60 kilometers (37 miles) at altitudes of several meters to several dozen kilometers.

It should be recalled that Russia has deployed an advanced S-400 antiaircraft missile system in the occupied Crimea for the Caucasus-2016 military drills in August 2016.
