Football: Ukraine is 30th in FIFA national teams ranking

FIFA has refreshed their ranking of the world’s strongest national football teams, in which Ukraine came 30th.

Argentina remains on the top; Brazil is the runner-up, while Germany comes third. Chile and Belgium wrap up the top five.

Year of Japan in Ukraine: 12 Ukrainians to take part in Japan’s government young leaders program

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Japan 12 young Ukrainians will participate in the Japanese government program “Ship for world youth leaders,” Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi said, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Interfax agency.

“The program “Ship for world youth leaders” has a long history – it was founded in 1958. This time, Ukraine is taking part in this program and 12 young Ukrainians will be able to travel to Japan and see it with their own eyes. These people from different spheres of activity were selected in an open competition,” Sumi said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

According to the ambassador, the participants of the program will stay in Japan for ten days, where they will visit the lectures on history, Japanese art and Japanese language. They will reside in families that will help to better understand the Japanese way of life. The second half of the program will be the ship voyage along the Pacific Ocean during the month.

“I hope that this program will be an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss and discover new ideas and approaches to the development of the future and get a lot of impressions and prospects of its development,” the diplomat said.

Amber Illegal Extraction: Man arrested for smuggling amber to Poland

A Ukrainian was caught up on smuggling more than 20 kg of amber, 112 TV channel reports wit reference to the State Border Guard Service.

The vehicle was detained at the Yagodyn checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border. After the search, the border guards found raw stones hidden in the spare wheel.

Ukraine Crisis: Militants carried out 62 attacks, one Ukrainian serviceman killed, three wounded in action in Donbas

Militants carried out 62 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Anti-Terrorist Operation area in Donbas in the past 24 hours, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Ukrainska Pravda.

In the Donetsk sector of the ATO area, militants fired 82mm and 120mm mortars at the villages of Avdiyivka, Luhanske; from grenade launchers and small arms – at Zaitseve.

In the Mariupol sector, the invaders used 82mm and 120 mm mortars for shelling at Mar’inka, Hnutove, Vodiane, Talakivka, Krasnohorivka, and Pavlopil.

In the Luhansk sector, militants shelled Novozvanivka with small arms and grenade launchers. They used infantry fighting vehicles and heavy machine guns to fire at the village of Krymske, as well as small arms – at the village of Stanytsia Luhanska.

One Ukrainian serviceman killed, three more wounded in action in the ATO area.
