Ukrainian President: We need European and Transatlantic unity and solidarity

“First of all, we need European and Transatlantic unity and solidarity with Ukraine,” President Poroshenko said in the interview to CNN TV channel, the presidential press service reports.

According to President Poroshenko, this is what Ukraine needs the most from the EU member-states and the U.S. rather than just financial aid and assistance in reforms.

Ukraine’s President emphasized that Russia had tried to increase its influence in all global centers of influence. They are quite active in the United States. If you see what is happening in certain European capitals, you can understand that Russia funds Eurosceptics and wants to destabilize Europe.

“Russia thinks that the EU is a great threat for it. All Eurosceptics get powerful support, not only financial, from Russia,” Petro Poroshenko said answering the question about Russia’s hybrid war, its methods to influence Ukrainian and European politics, funding of elections, cyber-war and possibility of doing the same in USA.

President Poroshenko noted a lot of people in the United States watched state-funded Russia Today TV channel, which is included in every cable network.

At the same time, Petro Poroshenko doesn’t think that it is dangerous for the United States.

“USA has a strong immunity against hybrid war. But the main purpose of Russia-funded media, social networks and political parties in Europe or Ukraine is to destabilize the situation, undermine unity and pull back the situation in the issue of bilateral relations with NATO,” he said.
