The situation in the area of Antiterrorist Operation has escalated during the past 24 hours, according to the HQ spokesperson Major Iryna Baranova, Joinfo.ua reports.
During the past 24 hours, the Russian occupation forces opened fire 96 times on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is almost twice as many as yesterday.
Three Ukrainian servicemen were killed and six wounded in action, according to information released at the briefing by Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman The Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues.
The highest number of attacks – 45 – were registered in the Donetsk sector, 10 of them – with use of heavy artillery. 6 times the enemy opened artillery fire on Avdiyivka, having launched 134 shells of 122mm caliber on positions of the ATO forces. Militants used the same caliber for shelling Pisky, Novoselivka Druha, Pershe Travnia. 40 shells were launched on the village of Luhanske.
The enemy does not stop mortar and grenade attacks on positions of the Ukrainian defenders along all the front line in this sector. Militants fired infantry combat vehicles in the villages of Novhorodske and Zaitseve, as well as an anti-tank missile system – in Novoselivka Druha. Also, a sniper fire was detected in Avdiyivka.
According to the HQ, in the Mariupol sector, there were 32 cases of enemy fire. Militants fired 122mm artillery systems on the ATO’s positions in the town of Mar’inka and 152mm artillery systems – on fortifications in Sionitne village.
The Russian invaders fired mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns on the section of the front line between Krasnohorivka and Shyrokyne. The enemy actively used armored personnel carriers near Shyrokyne and infantry combat vehicles – near Krasnogorivka. A sniper intensified fire in Mar’inka.
In the Luhansk sector, militants fired 122mm artillery systems thrice on the town of Popasna and the village of Novooleksandrivka. The enemy intensified the artillery fire with mortars and grenade launchers. Militants used mostly grenade launchers in the villages of Zolote, Luhanske and Krymske, while they also involved armored vehicles in the village of Stanytsia Luhanska. Two snipers were firing in Popasna and Novooleksandrivka.
“Despite the intensification of the enemy shelling, the ATO forces fully control the situation along the front line,” said Major Baranova.
