“I have tried many methods to fight for these guys as the world fought for me. Now I will fight for them as was fighting for myself. One of the mechanisms to accelerate my release was a hunger strike to protest against the inactivity of the Ukrainian authorities. As of today, I again declare a hunger strike over the inaction of governments of the world regarding the liberation of Ukrainians from captivity “, – she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

“The hunger strike will continue until the date of a positive result,” – added Savchenko.

It should be recalled that the then military pilot Nadiya Savchenko was captured by militants in Donbas in June 2014. Then she was transported to Russia forcibly.

Nadiya was found guilty of murder of two Russian journalists and sentenced to 22 years in prison by the Russian court.

On May 25, 2016, she was swapped for the two Russian special forces officers Yevgeniy Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov, captured and convicted in Ukraine.

Nadiya declared several hunger strikes in the Russian prison demanding her release and return to Ukraine.
