On August 2, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, together with the Defence Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Chief of General Staff Viktor Muzhenko, visited the Airborne Training Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region and congratulated military on their professional holiday, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the presidential administration.

The president said that it is a great honor to be present on this festive day of Ukrainian ‘winged infantry’ holy knights, and thanked the brave and strong warriors for their dedicated service to the homeland.

“Let the paratroopers’ slogan ‘Nobody but us!’ will always be for you a guide to the sacred cause of defending the homeland and restore its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of our native Ukraine”, – the President addressed to the soldiers.

President Poroshenko congratulated them on their professional holiday and wished the paratroopers and their families good health, prosperity and invincibility of spirit.

The president of Ukraine honored 2,295 soldiers with state awards for courage and heroism in battle with Russian invaders, including seven – awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.

The participants of the ceremony observed a minute of silence in memory of 415 heroes who were killed in fierce fighting with the Russian aggressor.
