“One Ukrainian citizen killed, one injured in Nice. My sincere condolences. Our consular people working around the clock with French authorities,” Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin wrote on Facebook, Joinfo.ua reports.
Last night, an attacker in a heavy truck plowed into crowds celebrating Bastille Day in the French city of Nice, killing at least 84 people and injuring scores more. He also opened fire before police officers shot him dead. The police identified the driver as a 31-year-old Tunisian-born Frenchman.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry in a statement expressed its deep sympathy and support to the Government and people of France.
“Ukraine strongly condemns any manifestation of terrorism and urges the international community to give strong rebuff to any manifestation of violence and hatred that carry these crimes. No one involved in this tragic act of terrorism must escape a just punishment,” said in the statement.
“Ukraine today with you. Ukrainians together with you mourn the innocent victims of brutal terror. This tragedy is a joint pain, Ukraine and France. Today Ukraine – is Nice,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
