Tuesday morning Nadiya Savchenko spoke from the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament for the first time since she was elected in 2014 while she was in the Russian jail, and promised not to let MPs forget the Ukrainians held in Russian prisons, Joinfo.ua reported.

Nadiya expressed her gratitude to all for support and help on her way to freedom, to her release from the Russian prison.

Nadiya Savchenko apologized to the mother of a Ukrainian soldier Vadym Puhachiov, killed in a combat with the Russian GRU officers Alexander Alexandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev, who were later swapped for Savchenko.

“I’m sorry that I’m alive and your son is dead,” Nadiya said.

In her brief speech, Nadiya Savchenko called on MPs to remember all the defenders of Ukraine who died for their country during the revolution on the Maidan and during the two years of the Russian aggression. “Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”, – said Savchenko.

She said that the people of Ukraine will not let MPs sit in their chairs in the Parliament, if they will not meet the expectations of people.

“The people of Ukraine will not let us sit in these seats if we fail them,” – said N.Savchenko.

After the speech, Nadiya removed the poster with her portrait and calling for her release, which has long hung on the stand. Then she hung another banner with portraits of Ukrainian prisoners held in the Russian Federation with words “Free the Kremlin’s prisoners.”

Nadiya has also called on MPs to make their best to save them from the Russian prisons.

It should be recalled that yesterday Mark Feygin, a lawyer of Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadiya Savchenko, has written an open letter to the Russian president calling on him to pardon other convicted Ukrainian citizens.

“The circumstances of the Savchenko pardon and her further exchange for Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov gave certain hopes for a solution of the situation with other Ukrainian citizens who remain in Russia. Among them are Yuriy Soloshenko, Hennadiy Afanasyev, Oleh Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Oleksy Chirniy, Mykola Karpiuk, Stanislav Klykh, Valentyn Vyhovskiy, Serhiy Lytvynov, Khaiser Jemilev, Oleksandr Kostenko, and some others,” Feygin said on Monday.

Nadiya Savchenko returned to Ukraine on 25 May as a hero. Nadiya was sentenced to 22 years of a colony by the Russian court. Then she was pardoned by Russian President Vladimir Putin and swapped for the Russian GRU special forces officers Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov.
