ATO report: militants intensified attacks on Ukrainian army, used 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, 122-mm artillery systems and tanks

On May 15, the situation in the area of the Anti Terrorist Operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine has deteriorated. Militant illegal armed groups grossly violated the truce along all the contact line.

During the past day, invaders 36 times opened fire on strongholds of the Ukrainian troops. There was also one combat yesterday, according to the information released by a spokesman for the press center of the ATO Major Anton Myronovych, Joinfo.ua reports.

The Russia-terrorist armed groups intensified attacks in the area near the occupied Donetsk city. From their positions in Donetsk’s neighborhoods and suburbs, militants fired intensively at positions of the ATO forces near Avdiyivka and Krasnogorivka. They used small arms, grenade launchersand 82-mm and 120-mm mortars. They also fired on strongholds of the Ukrainian army near Mar’inka from grenade launchers of various and small arms.

A subversive-reconnaissance  group tried to break through to Ukrainian army’s rear under cover of grenade launchers, anti-aircraft units and 82-mm mortars near Opytne in the area of the Donetsk aiport. The invaders were spotted in time and retreated after a combat with the ATO forces.

At Horlivka-Svitlodarsk arch, militants fired automatic grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars on positions of the Ukrainian army near the village of Zaitseve at night. They also fired small arms and grenade launchers near the village of Luhanske.

In the Mariupol sector, militants continued armed provocations against the ATO forces using rocket launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms. Yesterday, at least three such episodes were recorded.

In the Luhansk sector, invaders fired automatic grenade launchers and heavy machine guns on the ATO’s positions in the area of Schastia.

From midnight, militants attacked near Avdiyivka with weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, including 120-mm mortars, 122-mm artillery systems and tanks. In the Mariupol sector of the ATO area, militants also fired 82-mm and 120-mm mortars near Novotroitske, Taramchuk and Hranitne.
