On April 18, the Russia-backed illegal armed groups carried out 76 attacks on strong holds of the Ukrainian army in the area of the Anti Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine, according to the information released this morning by the spokesman for the press center of the ATO Lieutenant Colonel Victor Shubets, Joinfo.ua reports.

In the Donetsk sector militants fired 82 mm and 120 mm mortars near Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, Novhorodske and Nevelske.

In the Mariupol sector, in addition to mortars, the enemy used artillery receiver near Birch and Novotroitsk, violating the Minsk Agreements. They also fired near Mar’inka. At dusk and at night militants 15 times attacked Ukrainian troops with snipers, infantry fighting vehicles, small arms, grenade launchers and mortars.

Militants also used banned weapons in attacks on positions of the ATO forces near Slavne, Taramchuka and Shyrokyne. And with weapons of smaller calibers they fired near Stanytsia Luhanska, Verhnetoretske, Trohizbenka and Hranitne.

In order to keep their positions, Ukrainian troops 19 times opened fire in response.
