On Monday April 4, the military situation deteriorated again in the area of the Anti Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine. Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed, 10 were wounded in action, according to the information released by the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at the briefing in the Information Center of the Ukraine’s National Security Service, Joinfo.ua reports.
Russia-backed mercenaries dramatically increased the number of attacks on positions of the ATO forces in all sectors of the contact line.
In Luhansk sector enemies have made a series of provocations near the village of Stanytsya Luhanska (all – at nighttime). In addition, near the village of Novozvanivka, Popasna district, the enemy used a mortar.
In total for the past day in the Luhansk sector militants carrie out 7 attacks.
In the Donetsk sector, Zaitseve, Novhorodske and Avdiyivka remained the ‘hottest points’, where occupants were actively using mortars. In the key sites of defense, where the distance between positions of the ATO forces and militants’ is minimal, fighting again is conducted around the clock. Because occupants do not stop attempts to expand the controlled territory, they are holding heavy weapons on the contact line and firing intensively. Also, according to the MoD of Ukraine, enemy has equipped a new platoon stronghold near school №15 in Zaytseve.
It was also restless in Svitlodarsk district and on the outskirts of the Donetsk airport yesterday. During the past day, militants 39 times attacked strongholds of the ATO forces in the Donetsk sector (of which 9 – using mortars).
In the Mariupol sector it was restless on all fronts. Ukrainian troops repelled an attack of a subversive group near Hranitne. The group came from the opposite bank of Kalmius river to capture our strong point. In Talakivka and Shyrokyne illegal armed groups used mortars. Enemy snipers were shooting in Mar’inka.
On the past day there were 14 enemy attacks and one combat in the Mariupol sector of the ATO area.
