During the past 24 hours, militants opened fire 50 times in the ATO area, using heavy weapons banned by the Minsk agreements, said the spokesman of the press center of the Anti Terrorist Operation headquarters Lieutenant Colonel Victor Shubets, Joinfo.ua reports.
In the Donetsk sector the most difficult situation remains in Avdiyivka town. Militants fired 15 times on strongholds of Ukrainian army with 82mm and 120mm mortars. They also used small arms, heavy machine guns and rocket launchers. A subversive group of about 6 people tried to storm one of the strongholds of ATO forces. Soldiers of the Ukraine’s Armed Forces opened fire in response and the sabotage group retreated. In the Donetsk sector the militants also conducted shelling on strongholds of the ATO forces near Butivka coal mine, the villages of Luhanske, Pisky, Opytne and Zaitseve.
In the Mariupol sector it was restless too. Near Novotroitske militants used 120 mm mortars and anti-tank missile systems. Militants also fired on strongholds of the ATO forces in Mar’inka, Shyrokyne and Taramchuk with small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers.
Ukrainian troops several times opened military opened fire in response. Overall, the situation remains difficult, but controlled by the ATO forces.
