On March 23 the 50th Russian “humanitarian convoy” departed toward uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM).
“A column of trucks of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with humanitarian aid for Donbas departed towards the Russian border. It consists of 90 trucks carrying over 1,100 tons of humanitarian cargo. The bulk of the cargo is food: canned food, flour, sugar, cereals, pasta, butter, mashed potatoes, juices, as well as crop seeds, books and educational literature,”- said the Russian ministry.
It is reported that on approach to the state border the column will divide into two parts. Each of them will pass through border checkpoints “Donetsk” and “Matveyev Kurgan”.
“Humanitarian convoy will proceed to two destinations in Luhansk and Donetsk region “, – the report said.
It should be noted that both of this checkpoints are located on the uncontrolled by Ukraine area of the state border, which means that Ukrainian border guards and customs service could not check the cargo in the Russian trucks. Usually, after such deliveries illegal armed groups in Donbas significally intensify shelling on the positions of the forces of Anti-Terrorist Operation.
