ATO latest news: Russia-backed militants carried out 42 attacks on Ukrainian strong points in eastern Ukraine

The Russia-backed militants do not stop shelling on strong holds the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the Anti Terrorist Operation. During the past day it was recorded 42 attacks, of which 29 – in Donetsk sector, 12 – in Mariupol sector and 1 – in Luhansk sector, said today Major Serhiy Zhmurko, spokesman of the ATO headquarters, Joinfo.ua reports.

In Svitlodarsk district militants 6 times attacked strong holds of the ATO forces. In the village of Zaitseve they fired from 82mm and 120mm mortars, grenade launchers and machine guns. In Novhorodske and Mayorsk – with small arms, heavy machine guns and grenade launchers.

Russian mercenaries also fired rocket-propelled grenades and large-caliber machine guns on positions of the Ukrainian army near Luhanske, Pisky and Verhnetoretske. And near Avdiyivka militants fired with rocket-propelled grenades and mortars.

In Mariupol sector, around 19:00 near Novotroitske militants fired on the ATO positions. They released 18 shells from tank and 25 mines from 82mm mortar. Russian terrorists fired small arms, heavy machine guns and grenade launchers on Ukrainian strong holds near Mar’inka, Krasnohorivka, Shyrokine and Talakivka.

In some cases Ukrainian soldiers opened fire in response to the Russian invaders’ shelling with small arms and grenades.

It should be recalled that on Monday, the Information Resistance Group reported, referring to its source in the Anti Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine that the Russian soldiers with peacekeepers insignia were spotted in Donbas, especially near the village of Telmanove [southeast of Donetsk].
