Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that the release of Savchenko depends on the international pressure on Russia.

“I believe that we have to save Nadiya. We are talking and will talk to anyone who may influence  Putin directly, because the decision will be his,” – said Klimkin in an interview to media.

“Right now, the Russian side is playing with the sentence, and many other things, but I believe that it is a consolidated international pressure that should force Russia to release Hope” – the minister said.

According to him, Russia’s decision to release Savchenko is a strictly political issue.

Klimkin calls on the international community to support the action in support of Savchenko.

Russia has not yet given permission to Ukrainian doctors to visit Savchenko in jail, as today informed the Consul General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don Vitaliy Moskalenko.

It should be recalled Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko declared a hunger strike on March 3 after a debate during the court denied her the right to speak and rescheduled the hearing for March 9.

On Sunday March 6 Ukrainians rallied on the Maidan Nezalezhnosti square in the center of Kyiv demanding from Russia to release Nadiya Savchenko. Similar rallies were held also in Czech Republic, Belgium, Georgia and even in Russia.
