Nadiya Savchenko in Russian court threatens her sentence to be "posthumous"

Nadiya Savchenko hopes to return home after the verdict of the Russian court. Otherwise she is going to declare a dry hunger strike, said her sister Vira Savchenko, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the 1 + 1 TV channel.

It should be noted that Nadiya has been on hunger strike for more than 60 days. She is going to refuse water if she would not return home in ten days after the verdict of the Russian court.

On Thursday March 3 at the Russian court hearing Nadiya will make her last plea.

In February Nadiya’s lawyers came to Kyiv to discuss the swap of the Ukrainian pilot for the Russian GRU officers Captain Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Sergeant Alexander Alexandrov, detained in Ukraine. Mark Feygin, her lawyer, then said that the agreement would be announced in a short time.

It should be recalled Nadiya Savchenko, Ukrainian pilot, was captured in Donbas in June 2014, illegally transported to the Russian Federation, imprisoned by the Kremlin and accused of alleged involvement in the death of Russian journalists in Donbas.

The court hearings on her case have been conducted in the Donetsk city court of the Rostov region of Russia since September, 2015.

On December 17, 2015, Russian court extended the time of detention of Nadiya Savchenko in custody until April 16, 2016, so Nadiya announced a hunger strike until the end of the trial.
