In Lisbon, the representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora organized a protest march against Russian aggression in Ukraine and demanded the release of political prisoners in Russia – Nadiya Savchenko, Oleh Sentsov and others, Joinfo.ua reports.

“Participants of the action, mostly representatives of Ukrainian community walked out with Ukrainian flags and flags of the European Union, they sang the Ukrainian national anthem and chanted “Ukraine is Europe!” and “Crimea is Ukraine! In addition, they urged to release the Ukrainians illegally detained in Russia as political prisoners”, – the Ukraine’s Embassy in Portugal posted on Twitter.

Similar events were also held in France, Spain, Italy and other European countries.

The rally was dedicated to commemoration of the Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea in March 2014. After a sham referendum, the self-proclaimed Crimean government claimed that over 96% of Crimean residents had voted for Crimea’s accession to Russia. On March 18, 2014 Russia signed a treaty proclaiming Crimea the Russian territory.
