On February 25 in Luhansk region there were no armed provocations, said the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at the briefing in the Information Center of the Ukraine’s National Security Service, Joinfo.ua reported.
In Donetsk sector it was restless along the entire front line. Militants were shelling on Ukrainian positions near the village of Luhanske for over an hour. Russia-backed illegal armed groups intensified fighting in the vicinity of Horlivka town: they fired mortars in Zaitseve and Mayorsk; several snipers fired in Novhorodske.
On the western outskirts of Donetsk occupiers conducted a series of powerful shellings near Krasnogorivka using mortars and infantry combat vehicle (BMP).
In Mariupol sector the village of Mar’inka was in the epicenter of the fighting. Militants used small arms and grenade launchers of different systems. Also, snipers fired on Ukrainian positions in Mar’inka and Hranitne. In Shyrokyne militants conducted a short-term mortar attack on the positions of Ukrainian army.
For the second day in a row Ukrainian military engineers are working on mine clearance in Shyrokyne. The village has been completely under control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since yesterday.
Leaving the village, militants have mined almost every house, set dozens of mine traps. Now the village is in ruins, destroyed by militants’ artillery. Ukrainian engineers have cleared many explosives in cellars, courtyards and gardens, which posed a deadly danger to civilians.
