On 6 a.m. February 16, the situation has worsened in the area of ​​Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine. The Russia-backed illegal armed groups increase number of attacks every day, more often using mortars. This information was published today on Facebook by Colonel Andriy Zadubinnyi, the spokesman of the ATO headquarters.

In Donetsk region separatists fired at Ukrainian strong points in Zaytseve from 120mm mortars and self-propelled artillery. Also, militants carried mortar attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Kominternove, Hnutove, Shyrokyne, Krasnohorivka, Mar’inka and Mayorsk.

Ukrainian troops held clashes with militants’ subversive groups near Mykolaivka and Novotroitske.

Militants also fired with grenade launchers and heavy machine guns at positions of ATO forces near Granitne, Novhorodske, Opytne, Pisky, Avdiyivka and Butivka coalmine.

In Luhansk region militants attacked Ukrainian positions in Trokhizbenka and Sokilnyky.

In total, over the past day militants 79 times opened fire on strongholds of ATO forces.
