ATO latest news: militants 71 times attacked Ukrainian positions, 20 times from banned mortars

Militants have lately increased number of attacks using heavy weapons forbidden under the Minsk agreements

The situation in the area of ​​Anti-Terrorist Operation remains tense. Over the past day militants 71 times opened fire on strongholds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the ATO press service.

Pro-Russian militants increased use of mortars during shelling on Ukrainian positions. Only for the past day the insurgents used this type of weapons for 20 times.

Thus, enemy fired from mortars on strongholds of the ATO forces in Krasnohorivka, Pisky, Talakivka, Mayorsk and Zaitseve. In Zaitseve and Krasnohorivka illegal armed groups used 120mm mortars.

Occupants opened fire from grenade launchers and small arms on Ukrainian fortifications in Novotroitske, Mar’yinka, Avdiyivka, Novgorodske, Opytne, Pisky and the Butivka coalmine.

Militants also fired with heavy machine guns and anti-tank missile system at the strongholds of ATO forces in Luhanske.

Fighting clash occurred at the Mariupol sector near Hnutovo. Separatists used mortars and small arms there.

It was restless in Shyrokine, where militants fired on Ukrainian positions with small arms. There, and in some other areas, Ukrainian soldiers opened fire in response.
