The situation on the frontline remains tense. Militants continued to occasionally use heavy weapons (mortars), said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues at the briefing in Analytical-Information Center of the Ukrainian Security Service, Joinfo.ua reports.
In Luhansk region it was still absolutely quiet.
In Donetsk sector, in Svitlodarsk district separatists carried out two provocations with the use of grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.
On the northern outskirts of Horlivka there were fighting of low intensity. In this area militants launched 14 rounds from 82 mm mortars on positions of the forces of ATO and made a number of armed provocations.
To the west of the occupied Horlivka (near Troitske and Novgorodske), insurgents opened fire mostly during the day, using rocket launchers, weapons of infantry fighting vehicles and small arms. Near Troitske they launched two mines.
Near the Donetsk airport the enemy did not stop fire, not applying heavy weapons.
There was the biggest militants’ activity near Krasnohorivka yesterday. After midnight separatists began shelling on Ukrainian positions with 82 mm and 120 mm mortars from the direction of Staromykhailivka, and didn’t stop until dawn. They fired more than 75 mortars.
In Mariupol sector militants conducted a short-term armed provocation near Shyrokyne. In the daytime the enemy snipers fired actively near Maryinka. One Ukrainian soldier was wounded in such an attack.
