Russian MiG-31 fighter jet crashed in Syberia, pilots ejected

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, on January 25 a war plane MiG-31 lost control during training flight and crashed into a wooded area about 40 kilometers northwest of the town of Kansk in Krasnoyarsk region, Russia, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Interfax.ru.

Pilots ejected from the plane safely and got radio contact after landing.

“According to preliminary data, the cause of the crash of the MiG-31 was the a technical failure”, – the Ministry of Defence stated.

A special commission of the Defence Ministry headed to the crash site to investigate the accident.

Russian Defence Ministry also clarified that the jet did not carry ammunition and fell away from populated areas.

Later the edition reported that the pilots were transported to the hospital in Krasnoyarsk by Mi-8 helicopter.
