As it was reported by Colonel Andriy Lysenko, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues at the briefing in the Information Center of the National Security Service of Ukraine, insurgents dramatically stepped up attacks on the positions of the forces of Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donetsk and Mariupol directions, occasionally using heavy weapons – mortars and infantry fighting vehicles. The forces of ATO opened fire in response, because most of the attacks were aimed.
On Donetsk direction militants broke the silence mode on all fronts. Southeast of Novgorodske the insurgents used weapon of an armored infantry carrier (BMP) twice. Militants conducted the biggest number of attacks near Donetsk airport, in particular in Pisky.
On Mariupol direction militants fired without respite at Ukrainian positions east of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka. Illegal armed forces did not use heavy arms, but enemy snipers shoot for several times. However, well-aimed fire in response of Ukrainian forces made the invaders to retreat to the previous positions.
Insurgents also used heavy weapons. Militants released 5 mines from 120 mm mortar near Starohnativka. East of Talakivka they also used 82 mm mortar and anti-tank systems.
In Lugansk region it was quiet.
For the last day none of Ukrainian soldiers was killed, one was wounded in action. Also, one soldier was wounded in explosion of an improvised explosive device.
According to the Intelligence department of the MoD, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has tightened control at the Russian-Ukrainian border in Rostov region, which is uncontrolled by Ukraine. That was done because of more frequent attempts of the militants to flee to Russia.
