On Thursday, during the press conference President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said: “In 2016, we should restore Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions”, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the AP press service.

The President also stressed Ukraine’s firm commitment to the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by all the parties. “We will not allow the revision of the Minsk agreements,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President informed on the first meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in 2016. He emphasized that the position of Ukraine remained unchanged. “Ukraine demands clear definition of deadlines,” he said. The key elements for us are the restoration of Ukraine’s control over the uncontrolled part of the border and ensuring the ceasefire.

The President demonstrated the schedule of militants’ shelling at Ukrainian positions in 2015, which reflects substantial decrease of shelling starting from August 31, 2015. It is the evidence of the right choice within the Minsk process.

The President believes that the political settlement of the situation in Donbas can take place only in the form of the restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty in the occupied territories. Elections should be held under the Ukrainian legislation and with participation of Ukrainian parties and media.

According to the President, in the course of the meeting of TCG, Ukraine offered to introduce the regime of complete silence with participation of maximum number of the OSCE representatives, withdrawal of armament and ensuring control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.

At the same time, the President informed that Ukraine had irrefutable evidence that Russian modern weaponry had crossed the Ukrainian-Russian border. After presenting the evidence to the international organizations, Ukraine will demand proper reaction – withdrawal of occupation troops, access to the occupied territories for the OSCE, creation of security conditions for international humanitarian missions, including the ICRC.
