On january 14, militants used heavy weapons – 82 mm mortars – twice. There was also one combat clash of insurgents with the forces of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues at the briefing in Analytical-Information Center of the Ukrainian Security Service, Joinfo.ua reports.
Even on Thursday, after midnight, militants broke the silence mode at least 18 times. Colonel Motuzyanyk emphasized that the forces of ATO fully respected Minsk agreements, so the responsibility for the intensification of hostilities rests with the Russia-backed insurgents.
In Luhansk region it was quiet yesterday.
In the part of Donetsk region in the ATO area militants fired repeatedly at Ukrainian positions south of the villages of Troitske and Luhanske, mostly in daytime. Also, on these lines there was a short battle of a small group of mercenaries with the forces of ATO.
Militants’ activity has slightly increased in Horlivka’s agglomeration. Places of the greatest tension were Zaitseve, Mayorsk, Novgorodske.
In particular, militants held a short mortar attack at Ukrainian positions in Zaitseve.
In other places the insurgents used only small arms and grenade launchers of various systems.
A similar situation were in the vicinity of the Donetsk airport. In Opytne, militants conducted a mortar attack. Small enemy provocations were recorded at all the forefront positions of the forces of ATO.
In Mariupol district mercenaries broke the truce east of Krasnohorivka and Mar’inka. In all cases, the militants used small arms.
Also, Ukrainian military truck tripped on mine near Mariupol; as a result, two of the soldiers were wounded. There was no more losses for the day.
According to the MoD intelligence, militants continue to commit crimes against the local population in the occupied territories. So, yesterday, three militants from the gang “DPR” robbed a household. Currently occupation administration is trying to conceal information about the crime.
