During January 4, the situation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation area remained the same: ongoing low-intensity combat operations without the use of heavy weapons. For the last day of hostilities none of Ukrainian soldiers was killed or wounded, said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues at a briefing in Analytical-Information Center of the Ukrainian Security Service.
In Luhansk region it was calm.
In Donetsk region militants occasionally broke the silence mode in Svitlodarsk district, in the suburbs of Donetsk, near Horlivka and near the airport. The most restless area was in Opytne, where the mercenaries used an anti-tank grenade launcher. Also, snipers were shooting there.
In Mariupol sector militants violated the truce in Mar’inka, where militants fired from small arms at Ukrainian positions for about an hour.
On the administrative border with the occupied Crimea Ukrainian border guards found Russian UAVs and jet, which carried out a reconnaissance flight over the territory of the peninsula.
