December 22, militants have not respected a new ceasefire agreement, reached by the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk yesterday. They continued shelling at the positions of the ATO forces on all directions
Yesterday, in Minsk the Trilateral Contact Group reached a new ceasefire agreement, which came into effect at 00:00 of Wednesday December 23, 2015. However, illegal armed groups have violated this agreement.
From midnight, militants carried out 7 attacks at Ukrainian positions on all directions, two soldiers were injured. The militants have used MRLS Grad south of Popasna, said the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at the daily briefing in the Information-Analytic Center of NSDC.
Such actions again show that illegal armed groups do not want a peaceful.
In Luhansk region yesterday, there were 2 episodes of violations of the silence near Shchastya and Krymske. In both cases, the militants used small arms. In Shchastya, Ukrainian military opened fire in return, forcing the militants to stop attacks.
The clashes continued in Donetsk region: near Svitlodarsk, Luhanske, in the district of Horlivka and Donetsk airport.
The militants usually increase their activity in the afternoon, and open mostly unsighted fire on Ukrainian positions. The largest number of attacks was traditionally recorded in Luhanske, Zaitseve, Novgorodske and Pisky. At the same time, yesterday militants did not use heavy weapons on Donetsk direction.
On Mariupol direction militants carried out a series of sighted attacks with small arms in Krasnohorivka and Mar’inka. Militants carried out several attacks with the grenade launchers. The clash occurred in Talakivka. Also, the militants launched one mine from 82-mm mortar. In Shirokino there was a brief skirmish.
Yesterday, a sniper shot a local civil man in the chest in Marinka. The victim was immediately brought to hospital in Kurakhove town.
Also yesterday, militants occupied Kominternove town, located in “gray area” on the contact line near Mariupol incident and the OSCE STSKK. However, OSCE observers were not able to get there – for security reasons.
A joint center for control and coordination for the ceasefire immediately informed the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE about the gross violation of the ceasefire conditions by the units of the pro-Russian illegal armed groups.
The militants built up the presence of the military equipment and machinery, prohibited by the Minsk agreements, near the contact line on Mariupol direction.
According to recent reports, the militants did not allow observers from the SMM of the OSCE to work in the area of Kominternove.
