December 17, at the hearing in the Donetsk city court of the Rostov region of Russia, Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadiya Savchenko announced a hunger strike until the closure of the trial, her lawyer Nikolay Polozov wrote on Twitter, Joinfo.ua reports.

“Nadiya Savchenko announced a hunger strike until the closure of the trial. After the sentence is declared she will announce a dry hunger strike. She demands a release,” – wrote Polozov.

He also informed that Russian prosecutors requested for Savchenko to extend detention in custody until April 16, 2016. The court granted this request.

The Court granted also the request of the prosecutors of accession of Savchenko’s health certificate from the prison to the case, but she objected.

Polozov also wrote that due to the illegal extension of the time of detention in custodyб ruled by the court, Nadiya demanded to withdraw the court.

A couple weeks ago official representative of the Russian Investigation Committee Vladimir Markin said that Nadiya Savchenko can get a harsh sentence by the end of the year.

“Those crimes, committed by the so-called spotter Savchenko, are very clearly regulated by our law, as the crimes were committed against Russian citizens”, – said Markin.

Nadiya Savchenko, Ukrainian pilot, was captured in Donbas in June 2014, illegally transported to the Russian Federation, imprisoned by the Kremlin and accused of alleged involvement in the death of Russian journalists in Donbas.

The court hearing on her case have been conducted in the Donetsk city court of the Rostov region of Russia since September, 2015.
