ATO latest news: militants refused to let the UN humanitarian aid to the territory of LPR/DPR

According to Colonel Andriy Lysenko, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine on the ATO issues, pro-Russian militants refused to let the UN humanitarian aid to the territory of the so-called “republics”. They stopped on the checkpoint 23 trucks of humanitarian aid from the UN, which delivered 430 tons of food and medical supplies for residents of the temporarily uncontrolled by Ukraine areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions. “Militants stopped the truck near the village Olenivka, Perevalsky district of Luhansk region and sent them back without any explanation”, – said Andriy Lysenko during a press briefing in the Ukrainian Media Crisis Center, Joinfo.ua reports.

During the last day the situation in the zone of ATO in Donetsk area remained tense. In the area of Horlivka, Zaitseve, Mayorsk and Novgorodske militants broke the silence during the day. The militants carried out one shelling from 82-mm mortar. Also, a sniper was shooting in the area.

“On the western outskirts of Donetsk,  most of the fighting took place in Krasnohorivka. Today, there was a series of attacks, 30 mines were fired from 82-mm mortar launcher. Also, the militants made provocations across the front line between Avdiyivka and Mar’inka”, – said Colonel Andriy Lysenko.  A few provocations were recorded near Svitlodarsk. On Mariupol direction, the militants made one provocation near Shyrokyne – a series of grenade rounds; on Lugansk direction it was quiet during the day.

“As a result of fighting none of Ukrainian soldiers died, but two were injured”, – said Andriy Lysenko.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the level of discipline and motivation among the militants continue to decline. “Given the reduced flow of Russian mercenaries and increased number of militants who want to resign, the occupation administration plans to start mobilization by force, – said Andriy Lysenko. – Low level of motivation among the fighters is caused by the losses not only in the fightings with the ATO forces, but in internal disputes.

Colonel said also, that there are many conflicts between militants and local residents in the ATO area. In particular, the recent incident occurred in Horlivka. “After drinking, the militant detonated a grenade, which killed a 56-year-old resident of Horlivka, and her son was injured”, – said Andriy Lysenko. The situation is complicated by the poor quality of food, lack of medicines and active trade in low-quality alcohol, which sometimes leads to poisoning and even death of people.

Yesterday, police detained three residents of Mykolaivka, Slovyansk district of Donetsk region, which from June 2015 informed militants about deployment, routes of movement, strength and weapons of the units of the ATO forces. “Also, investigators found a large ammunition warehouse near Severodonetsk”, – said Andriy Lysenko. In caches, they ceased more than a hundred grenades F-1 and RGD-5, a box of 20 hand grenades, made in Russia, and almost 11 thousand cartridges of different caliber.
