The Turkish military attache in Moscow has been summoned to the Russian foreign ministry over the incident.

“Russian MFA expressed a rigid warning to the Turkish military diplomat about the possible harmful consequences of the reckless actions of Ankara against the Russian military contingent, which is combating international terrorism in Syria,” – said in a statement of Russain MFA.

Relations between the two countries remain tense over Turkey’s shooting down of a Russian bomber on November 24.

On December 7, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned Russian ambassador in Ankara Andrey Karlov to protest the “provocative” passage of the Russian warship through Bosphorus Strait.

Ankara presented photos of the Russian soldier on the warship “Caesar Kunikov”, brandishing a missile launcher as the vessel passed through Istanbul,  and stressed the Turkish public was uneasy over the footage, and there was a feeling the people’s security was threatened.
