Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, speaking expanded meeting of the board of MOD, said that the Strategic Missile Forces keep 95% of launchers in constant readiness for combat use, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to TASS.
Strategic nuclear forces of Russia in 2015 received 35 intercontinental ballistic missiles, ten upgraded bombers and two submarines, said Shoigu.
“In the Strategic Missile Forces, for more than 95% of launchers are kept in the permanent readiness for combat use. 6 regiments, equipped with systems “YaRS” of statiсal and mobile location, are on duty. The ground strategic nuclear forces (SNF) are for 51% equipped with the modern weaponry.
“In 2015, the SNF aviation was reinforced with ten modernized aircraft, including two Tu-160, three Tu-95MS and five Tu-22M3,”- said Shoigu. In addition, he pointed out, the sea component of the strategic nuclear forces, joined by two submarines of Borey class – “Alexander Nevsky” and “Vladimir Monomakh”. “The marine strategic nuclear forces were enforced with modern weapons up to 56%”, – the Minister said. “The armed forces have just supplied 35 ballistic missiles, which made the nuclear forces equipped with the modern weaponry up to 55%,” – he added.
It should be recalled that speaking at the meeting, Putin ordered to act very tough, eliminating any threats to the Russian Armed Forces in Syria.
