The UN Security Council is holding a meeting in New York on the situation in Ukraine, the last meeting of this year, Joinfo.ua reports.

Early morning on Friday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin  arrived in New York to participate in a meeting of the UN Security Council, dedicated to the situation in Ukraine.

Ivan Simonovic, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights said earlier, that he intended to address the Security Council on the situation of human rights in Ukraine and discuss the “situation of human rights in 2015: achievements, threats and ways of improvents of the situation in 2016 “.

Also, Ukraine has a new permanent representative to the UN Security Council Volodymyr Yelchenko, which succeeded replaced Yuriy Sergeyev. Before that Volodymyr Yelchenko was an Ambassador of Ukraine in the Russian Federation. During the 2014 Crimean crisis, Yelchenko was recalled from Moscow for consultations in regards to situation with Crimea.
