Turkey hopes to sign an agreement on free trade area with Ukraine in the coming months. This was stated by Shefik Vural Altay, Ambassador Extraordinary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey on the Caucasus, Central Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe. The statement was made at a meeting of deputies of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada with the Turkish delegation to the Rada’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Joinfo.ua reports.
In fact, the dialogue on this matter has lasted from 2011 and was slowed down in 2013. However, the Russian aircraft that violated the air space of Turkey, and Putin’s economic sanctions, have accelerated the process. For Ukraine, it may become a new economic opportunity.
As MP Svitlana Zalishchuk wrote on her Facebook page, it was one of the dozens of international meetings, when the phrase “the following steps Russia depends on our counteractions,” sounded not from the side of Ukrainian deputies.
“Our colleagues from Turkey also voiced some important theses on such issues:
– Support of our integration into NATO and the readiness to take practical steps in this sphere;
– Needs to return Crimea issue on the international agenda;
– The need to develop strategies to counteract the war in hybrid, which was the subject of Turkey.
We also discussed the situation with the downed aircraft, violations of the air space by Russia, which preceded this. We also discussed the Putin’s Turkish Stream – a project that had disappeared before he was born, “- wrote Zalishchuk.
