ATO latest news: December 8, militants used less heavy weapons, but expanded the area of attacks on Ukrainian positions

On December 7, compared to the previous days, militants reduced the number of cases, when they used heavy weapons. At the same time they expanded the area of the fighting. So, yesterday there was no quiet area on the demarcation line. This was announced today by Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman of the Presidential Administration on the issues of ATO at the briefing in Information Analysis Center of the National Security and Defense Service, Joinfo.ua reports.

On the Lugansk direction the militants violated the silence near Stanitsa Luhanska and to the west – near  Zhovte and Trekhizbenka. They fired from heavy weapons from the opposite bank of Siverskyi Donets river.

On the Donetsk direction, near Svitlodarsk the militants carried out 4 provocations. It happened near the village of Luhanske, where they fired from rocket-propelled grenade launchers and machine guns. In the vicinity of Horlivka, the militants violated the silence on the perimeter of the metropolitan area. In particular, in Zaitseve the ATO forces had a clash with the subversive group. In Mayosk and Leninske – our troops were attacked from the mortars. In Novgorodske the snipers worked.

Yesterday, the most troubled places were Pisky, Krasnogorivka and Mar’inka. In this area the militants used 82-mm mine launchers, arms of infantry fighting vehicles. There were also snipera registered there. Combat operations were conducted mainly in the afternoon.

On the Mariupol direction, militants carried out two unsighted shellings at our positions near Starohnativka and Shyrokyne.

For the past day two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the fighting, 2 more injured. Also, 2 soldiers were injured by negligence in a blast of explosive devices.

According to the intelligence data, in the ranks of armed groups DPR and LPR there are many militants seeking to terminate the contract and leave.

This trend is linked to poor conditions of the service, and a sharp decrease in the level of payment. For example, 6 fighters from the so-called “the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade” (the place of dislocation – Debalceve) refused to go to the training camp and wrote reports on the dismissal. In one of the units of the so-called “the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade” (the place of dislocation – Luhansk), 14 of 22 driver-mechanics of ICV (BMP) want to quit.
