Crimea blackout: the repair crew has resumed the electricity supply to the peninsula today

End to blackout: power supply to Crimea resumed

At 14:00 today, Kherson Regional State Administration held a meeting of the operational staff with the activists of the blockade and Lenur Islyamov. The participants agreed to resume the electricity supply to the peninsula on the line Kakhovska-Titan, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference Korrespondent.

“As a result of work and negotiations, around 14:00 the repair crew connected the line Kakhovska-Titan to the electricity supply system. There were no provocations or conflicts at the meeting. The police maintained public order”, – said the chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration Andriy Putyliv.

According to Putyliv, this will help stabilize the situation with the energy supply in Kalanchak and Chaplynka districts, which were powered by emergency back-up scheme.

It should be recalled that Crimea has been cut off from the electricity supply since November 22, 2015. On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the first line of the energy bridge to Crimea.

Yesterday, the so-called head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov threatened to the district electrical chiefs with criminal cases and criticized the leadership of “Krymenergo” for breaking the schedule of rolling blackouts across the Crimea.

Later at 19:30, on the energy bridge from the Russian Federation to Crimea across the Kerch strait an accident occurred. The cables did not stand the electricity load and broke down due to overheating.
