Today at the meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude for the King’s condolences for the downed Russian Su-24, shot down by Turkish Air Force, and said that this attack will have tragic consequences for Russian-Turkish relations.
“This tragic event will have serious consequences for Russian-Turkish relations. We are always treated Turkey as not only a close neighbor, but as a friendly state. I do not know, who needed what has been done today. Anyway, not us “- said Putin.
During the meeting, Putin called this incident “a stab in the back.”
“This event goes beyond the fight against terrorism. Of course, our military are waging a heroic struggle against terror, without sparing himself, not sparing their lives,” – said Putin. He called it “a stab in the back”, caused by “accomplices of terrorism”.
He said that our plane was shot down over the Syrian territory by Turkish F-16s with the “air-air” missile a kilometer from the border with Turkey, and fell in Syria four kilometers from Turkish border.
“The plane was attacked at the height of 6000 meters. In any case, our pilots and our plane did not threaten the Republic of Turkey. It is an obvious thing,” – said Putin.
Putin also said: “Turkey is known to be among those who have announced that they are supposedly fighting terrorism as part of US-led coalition. But in the incident with the Russian jet, Turkey operated in such a way as if it wants to put NATO at the service to ISIS. ”
