Militants continue to increase the activity in Donbas, intensifying the shelling at positions of the ATO forces and civilian targets. They fired from small arms, heavy machine-guns, 82-mm mortars, propelled rocket grenade launchers and standard weapons of infantry combat vehicles, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Information Resistance.
During the weekend 21-22 November, at several sites militants provoked Ukrainian troops to draw into the clash, coming close to forward positions forces ATO or shooting slightly from the so-called “gray zone”.
In addition, militants continued an active reconnaissance of combat formations and tactical logistics Ukrainian troops, using both the subversive groups and agents in the front line. They infiltrate subversive groups across the contact line, or sending the militants, disguised as locals, or using the local residents as agents, taking advantage of shortcomings in the organization mode of transport and movement of citizens across the contact line in the ATO area. They also made attempts to mine areas in the rear of the ATO forces.
During the past days the militants fired at positions of ATO forces between Mar’inka and Horlivka, from Luhanske to Myronivske, and from Zaitseve to Gladosovo. They also fired at positions of Ukrainian troops in the area of Chermalyk, Shchastya, Mayorsk, and between Shyrokyne and Sakhanka.
Two groups of the militant’s infantry attempted to attack Ukrainian outposts in Donetsk district by Spartak. Near the village of Opytne theyattacked with the backup of 2 infantry combat vehicle (BMP-2) and one BTR-80. The enemy made an attempt to get closer to the positions of the forces of ATO, but under the dense return fire of Ukrainian unit, the militants returned to the neutral zone and were forced to withdraw. The withdrawal was covered by dense fire from at least three 82-mm mortars.
Also, at the briefing in Ukraine Crisis Media Center, the spokesman of Administration of the President of Ukraine on ATO issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko said for the past day two Ukrainian soldiers were killed near the village of Luganske. Another two soldiers were wounded.
The biggest number of violations of the silence, the militants made near Opytne, Pisky and Mar’inka. “The enemy occupied positions in the industrial facilities, Putilov forest, on the territory of the destroyed airport and residential neighborhoods, trying to get close closer to the front Ukrainian position. However, despite the shelling, the front line is stable”, – assured Colonel Lysenko.
