Yesterday during the G20 summit, Russia has proposed to postpone the payment of Ukraine’s debt for 2016-2018 years, $ 1 billion a year, told Russian President Vladimir Putin, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to TASS.
“We did, in my opinion, an unexpected offer to our partners,” – he said. – “We do not just agree to restructure the debt of Ukraine, but offered better conditions than International Monetary Fund have requested from us.”
“We were asked to postpone the payment for the next year in the amount of $ 3 billion. I said that we are ready for a deeper restructuring. We are ready not to receive any money this year, but to receive a billion the next year, in 2017 – the second billion, and in 2018 – the third,” – said Putin.
“Because our partners are confident that the creditability of the Ukrainian state will grow, and we have no reason to doubt that we will get even three billion in the next year, there is no fear of our partners to make a guarantee on the loan,” – said Putin. He noted that the Russian Federation has asked for such guarantees from the US government, or from the EU, or from one of the international financial institutions. “We hope that this issue will be resolved by the beginning of December this year, due to a specific timetable of the IMF,” – said Putin.
According to the Russian President, he had already discussed this issue with US President Barack Obama, and also with the U.S. Finance Minister.
