Former Justice Minister Olena Lukash was brought to the Prosecutor General’s Office. It was stated by Olena Hitlyanska, the Spokesperson of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) at the briefing today, reports Joinfo.ua citing TV channel 112 Ukraine.

“I want to inform you that on behalf of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Security Service is taking steps to track down and arrest high-ranking officials of the regime of Yanukovich,  involved in crimes against the Maidan. So, today, as a result of a complex search actions, which involved significant resources of SBU, was arrested a former Justice Minister Olena Lukash, who was hiding from justice,”- said Hitlyanska.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that several criminal cases were initiated against Lukash. “In addition to the crimes of Yanukovich’s regime “she is suspected of embezzling 2.5 million hryvnia from the state budget.” “We have information that could confirm committing crimes by Elena Lukash, such as a theft of funds in especially large sizes and official forgery, – said the prosecutor Vladislav Kutsenko.

According to him in 2013, Lukash held an illegal tender on implementation of the national program of adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU legislation.”

According to the results of the tender Lukash appropriated more than 2.5 hryvnia from the state budget.

Later today, Olena Lukash spoke on air by the phone with the host of 112 Ukraine TV channel. She said that she came to the Prosecutor General’s Office and provided all the requested information. She denied all the accusations. Lukash said that she lived her usual life and did not hide from the law enforcements.

She also said that considered today’s detainment as an information newsbreak for distracting people’s attention.
