On the morning of November 2 Russian Investigation Committee in Crimea began searches in the homes of former employees of the Crimean Tatar TV Channel ATR in the frame of initiated a criminal case against Lenur Islyamov, the owner of the channel. This was announced by the former editor of the channel ATR Roman Spiridonov, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference KrymRealii.
According to him, about 6 o’clock in the morning searches began in the homes of ex-editor of the channel ATR Lilya Budzhurova , former ATR CEO Elzara Islyamova and in Lenur Islyamov’s parents’ house.
Lenur Islyamov confirmed this information. According to him, the FSB also carried out searches in his sister Lenar’s home and in his Moscow house, where his son lives.
It should be recalled that on 1 April 2015 the world’s only Crimean Tatar channel ATR stopped broadcasting in the territory of the annexed peninsula, because it did not receive a license from Russian authorities. From June 17, 2015 TV channels ATR and LALE resumed broadcasting via satellite and the Internet from Kiev.
Now Islyamov lives on the mainland of Ukraine. He was one of the main initiators of the civil blockade of Crimea, launched on 20 September.
The initiators of the blockade believe that the Ukrainian companies should stop trade relations with the Crimea, the peninsula as the territory was occupied by the Russian Federation. Among the requirements – the cancellation of Ukrainian law on the Free Economy Zone in Crimea.
“I called to neighbors In Crimea, they say that the searches are carried out by FSB. Anyway, they all have such inscriptions on their jackets. In Moscow’s house there are only my son and a guard. Son is studying at the Higher School of Economics. In Crimea: my father, 82 and mother, 76, just two of them in the house. At my sister’s house – the same thing”- Islyamov said.
Lilya Budzhurova and Elvira Islyamova can not be reached yet. After ATR’s termination, Budzhurova and Islyamova were working for Karadeniz production.
According to eyewitnesses in Crimea, the building, where previously ATR was located, is surrounded by Russian law enforcements.
According information agency Kryminform, close to Russian authorities, the Russian Investigation Committee of FSB in Crimea initiated a criminal case against the citizen of the Russian Federation Lenur Islyamov on October 22.
Islyamov believes that this criminal case is a reaction to the anti-Kremlin stance and blockade of Crimea. He called it “planned attack on him and his business”, commenting to the edition.
“We already had the information that they are preparing a large-scale offensive, and they started it on all fronts. Now they will try to raid all the business. They have withdrawn the license of my bank in Moscow, which is in the Crimea as well. Now they will press all contact with me. Then they will frame me as an international terrorist “, – he said.
Islyamov believes that it is “a revenge for not accepting Putin’s game rules in Crimea.”
“Besides, the civil blockade, after which they said that Crimea will survive, everything is wonderful and everything is great, and the Russian producers will raise their turnover. Now you can see how Russia reacts. This means that the civil blockade works”, – said Islyamov.
