Russian State Duma to demand from NATO confirmation on the authorization to shoot down Russian planes in Iraq

According to Irina Yarovaya, head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, the Russian Federation should require from NATO to confirm or to deny the information that British pilots have received a permission to shoot down Russian planes in Iraq in return of hostile fire, reports Joinfo.ua citing Russian media.

It should be recalled that yesterday British tabloid Daily Star Sunday reported, with the reference to their sources in Defense Ministry of the UK, that British and NATO pilots had been allowed to open fire in case if they are shot by Russian fighter aircrafts during missions in Iraq. But they were also instructed to avoid contact with Russian airplanes.

“NATO must confirm or deny media reports that the British pilots, who are involved in military operations in Iraq were allowed to attack the Russian aircrafts in case of life threat. Otherwise, the silence can be considered as the leakage of information about the alliance’s support of ISIS,” – Yarovaya said.

She also added that no “threat to life” is possible, because Russian fighters hame no other objectives, but the positions of ISIS in Syria, and they can not pose a danger for the British pilots.

She said that if this information would be confirmed, it would mean that NATO intents to protect ISIS and act against Russia.
