The Security Service of Ukraine announced number of Russians fighting in Donbas and captives by militants

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that 6 to 9 thousand soldiers and officers of the Russian army stay permanently on the territory of Donbas. This was stated by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Grytsak at a press conference on Saturday, October 10, Joinfo.ua reports.

“6 to 9 thousand. On an constant basis, I emphasize. And about 50 thousand – on the border with Ukraine”, – he said.

Gritsak also said that from the beginning of the conflict in Donbas SBU officially recorded 56 Russians participating in hostilities against Ukraine. Such a small number is, according to Gritsak, due to the fact that the Russians stay behind while sending forth the so-called “militants” and mercenaries.

“For the present day 153 people are imprisoned by the militants, 801 more are missing,” – Grytsak said.

Gritsak noted that the work on the exchange of prisoners of war does not stop.

“This work continues, negotiations are conducted on a daily basis. Today, in particular, three of our officers and volunteer are there to negotiate in Donetsk. I hope that the negotiations will be successful”, – said the head of SBU.
