DPR and LPR announced the postponement of their elections to 2016

Today October 6 representatives of DPR and LPR, Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deinego announced the postponement of their elections scheduled on October 18 and November 1 to the next year, Joinfo.ua reports media of separatist republics. “We express gratification that the proposal of LPR to postpone the elections in Donbas on February 21, 2016 under condition that Kyiv respects the political clauses of ‘Minsk-2’ were taken into account by the Normandy Four. We have studied the statements and recommendations of Ms. Merkel and Mr. Hollande on the results of the Paris meeting of October 2. Here in Minsk we held consultations today with representatives of the OSCE and Russia. We were instructed by our leaders A.Zakharchenko and I. Plotnitsky,” – said separatists.

“Please be informed about the consent of DPR and LPR to postpone the elections from October 18 and November1, 2015 to the following year, “- the statement said. According to it, the decision was made after studying the results of the Paris meeting of Normandy Four on October 2.

It should be recalled that earlier Aleksandr Zakharchenko, the leader of the so-called DPR signed a ‘decree’ on the elections scheduled on October 18,2015. He claimed that these elections provide the fulfillment of the Protocol of Minsk Agreements on 5 September 2014 and the Complex of measures on 12 February 2015. However, these elections do not correspond with Ukrainian legislation and directly violate the Minsk Agreements.

Later Igor Plotnitskiy, the leader of self-proclaimed LPR, signed a ‘decree’ to hold elections in LPR on November 1, 2015.
