Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed deep concern about the aggressive actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Syria. In the official statement MFA of Ukraine sais that Russian Air Forces attacks in Syria, which have led to civilian casualties and did not cause significant damage to ISIS forces evoked serious doubts about the ability of Russia to play a constructive role in the settlement of Syrian crisis, Joinfo.ua reports.

“Hiding behind the slogan of the struggle against international terrorism, the Kremlin has consistently implemented a policy of creating zones of instability, supporting the anti-democratic regimes. On the background of the military aggression of Russia against Ukraine, which is accompanied by direct support and financing of terrorism in Donbas, Moscow’s proclamations of policy of strengthening the fight against terrorism in Syria is particularly cynical.

“Ukraine expresses solidarity with the international community in struggle against ISIS as a global threat. We believe that the achievement of sustainable peace and stability in Syria is possible only through simultaneous neutralization of radical Islamist groups and the removal from power of the ruling regime in Damascus. The ultimate goal of the political process should be the creation of a government of national unity and the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria,”- said the statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

It should be recalled that in response to massive Russian air strikes Syrian rebels fighting against President Bashar Assad, in a joint statement called on regional countries to form an alliance against Russia and Iran.

The joint statement describes what is happening as “the Russian military aggression and outright occupation of Syria.” Among the signatories – an influential Islamist group “Ahrar al-Sham”, which is considered the second largest armed organization of the opposing army of Assad.
