The U.S. President Barack Obama signed a decree on the transfer of new defensive weapons to Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to the interview of Ukrainian Presidents Petro Poroshenko to Ukrainian TV.
The U.S. President Barack Obama on the day of the meeting with Petro Poroshenko at the UN General Assembly signed a decree on the transfer of new samples defense weapons to Ukraine. This was stated by Petro Poroshenko in interview to Ukrainian TV channels which aired on October 4.
“Barack Obama met with me before the meeting with Putin, where we coordinated the basic approaches, and in the evening, after he met with Vice President Biden, he said that he had signed a decree on the transfer new models of defense weapons to Ukraine, which we need as the air,”- said Poroshenko.
Ukrainian President said Ukraine will receive long-range counter-battery stations, which will enable Ukraine to increase the effectiveness of the defense capability of the troops.
According to Poroshenko, at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly Ukraine has been one of the main subjects in the speeches of Barack Obama and EU leaders.
“At the General Assembly we were able to turn the European unity and solidarity with Ukraine into the global one,” – said Poroshenko.
According to him, today, most countries support the position of Ukraine regarding Russia: the Donbas aggression, the annexation of Crimea and tragedy of MH17. “This is undoubtedly the victory of Ukraine,” – the President added.
It should be recalled that on October 3 the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces announced the beginning of the withdrawal of weapons of under 100 mm caliber.
